First Hive Inspection (May 9, 2023)
“Eek!! It’s looking good! Just did our first inspection. I found the queen, saw new eggs, larva, and capped brood and bees in the top box! This is so cool!”

Larry Stalcup and Don Reynolds, tenured beekeepers from the Appalachian Beekeepers Club, delivered a swarm to Abigail giving her a first hive. She donned the suit and showed no fear in picking up the frames, helping to set up the hive, and searching for the queen. Bee School prepared her well!
A second hive will be delivered to her in a week from David Newman’s hives giving her a solid start in the life of a beekeeper.
